The opportunities and challenges digitization can offer educational systems
DIDACTA – the Education Festival from May 23rd to 25th
The first station DIDACTA Digital made was in the Linz Design Center at the end of May, where it spent three days discussing the opportunities and challenges of digitization in educational systems. Since this educational trade fair took place on our doorstep, it was of course the perfect opportunity to introduce our INTERACTION Edition eSquirrel, make key contacts and participate in many interesting discussions.
Digital extensions to textbooks
Textbook publishers are increasingly offering digital applications to extend their traditional textbooks. The eSquirrel quiz app, offering educational content specifically adapted, among other, to publishers such as Hölzl, ÖBV, Trauner and VERITAS, is a pioneer in this field. Learners use the eSquirrel app to simply select topics they wish to learn more about to then receive challenging quiz questions in that field. Diligent learners will then be rewarded valuable nuts they can collect.
Learning is child’s play with INTERACTION
We had our first discussions with the eSquirrel team in the fall of 2018 already, discussing possible cooperation and requesting initial test schools. The idea was to combine the learning syllabus with the INTERACTION game content to thereby learn as you play. Following the initial highly positive feedback from the schools, we decided as a next step to develop a special INTERACTION edition specifically for schools. Learning content will soon, however, also be available as an expansion to the classic INTERACTION. This will actually soon relegate bad marks to the past.
LIFT – Learn, Inspire and Facilitate with Tablets
Our kick-off to Didacta included a presentation and small demonstration of INTERACTION edition eSquirrel to teachers of so-called LIFT schools. Since LIFT schools issue tablets to selected classes, these classes are thus already able to directly integrate digital media into classes. Putting it succinctly: precisely the INTERACTION Edition eSquirrel target group.
It became clear after the first few rounds that our project perfectly anticipates future developments, enabling us to acquire our first customers already at the fair. The months of summer will now be used for final fine tuning and the cry in fall will be “Goodbye to bad marks”.
